Converting Pi to binary: DON’T DO IT

Posted by Jorge Bernal October 30, 2006

Found at a worthy #1 at reddit:

WARNING: Do NOT calculate Pi in binary. It is conjectured that this number is normal, meaning that it contains ALL finite bit strings.

If you compute it, you will be guilty of:

  • Copyright infringement (of all books, all short stories, all
newspapers, all magazines, all web sites, all music, all movies,
and all software, including the complete Windows source code)
  • Trademark infringement
  • Possession of child pornography

RFC 2795: The Infinite Monkey Protocol Suite (IMPS)

This memo describes a protocol suite which supports an infinite number of monkeys that sit at an infinite number of typewriters in order to determine when they have either produced the entire works of William Shakespeare or a good television show. The suite includes communications and control protocols for monkeys and the organizations that interact with them.
